Primates over Profits is dedicated to showing the need for a change in leadership at Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary in order for the current monkeys to receive the permanent high-quality sanctuary care they were promised.
During the summer of 2021 JFPS lost their GFAS (Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries) accreditation, were forced to resign from NAPSA (North America Primate Sanctuary Alliance) then lost their ASA (American Sanctuary Association) accreditation.
Currently, the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) deem it necessary to visit JFPS monthly to conduct inspections and monitor the current leadership’s activities toward improving the monkey's care and living conditions.
These monthly visits are positive for the monkey’s welfare, however, long-term volunteers, previous staff, and donors know that the current ED and Board of Directors have a pattern of improving the care and living conditions of the monkey's when the pressure is on. Once the pressure is off, they always revert back to the subpar care we are fighting to stop.
Until positive changes are made, we will continue to show the impact of these cycles and how they lower the standard of care for the monkey's which leads to lack of proper health checks, inadequate amounts of food, unclean enclosures, workspaces, as well as poor medical decisions by the Veterinarian of Record and the ED.
This pattern and subsequent decline in care is why it is absolutely necessary that JFPS restructure their current leadership/BoD. We must be the voice for the monkeys and we will never stop fighting to get #justiceforthemonkeys!!
